Kindness comes in many forms…

Need

I originally posted this on the “textdrive forums”:http://forum.textdrive.com/viewtopic.php?id=5475, but I felt it was important enough to share here, as well.

There are always people in need. The only thing you (or I) can do is offer help where it means the most to us. If that means supporting the people of New Orleans, do what you can. If that means donating $5 a month to one of those Save-an-African-Child organizations, do it. If that means traveling to war-torn Iraq with the Red Cross and helping distribute food, do it.

Each of us has limited energy and time – we’ve been placed here for a finite existence. There’s nothing wrong with feeling bad and doing nothing about Katrina, as long as you make the effort that matters to you when it matters to you.

Kindness comes in many forms, and I believe there are many more good people in this world than we think there are; evil is not driven by some innate force but by fear and ignorance. If we can help alleviate those causes of evil, we help eliminate suffering.

And doing that, each in our own way, is the only true kindness we offer.
