Oh, and I’m thankful for you!

cranberries & stuffing

Sometimes I think it’s cheesy, but every year around Thanksgiving, I get to thinking about what I am thankful for in my life. It’s not that I don’t try to feel gratitude every day… 33 years of turkey-filled holidays have just ingrained the habit. So… here’s my obligatory list:

I’m thankful that K broke my heart at the beginning of the year. The latter half of 2008 really knocked me out of the zone and I needed change to get back on top.

I’m thankful for waking up happy almost every day this year. Sometimes life dragged down my mood, but each day started with a wonderful sunrise.

I’m thankful for surprise calls on Valentines’ Day, offering me a job that fits me perfectly.

I’m thankful for A, who showed me how intense, crazy and tumultuous love can be, and who helped me figure out what I want and don’t want in my love life.

I’m thankful for friends who have stood by me through my periods of insanity and seemingly bad decisions.

I’m thankful for someone who makes me feel totally at ease with myself and still brings out the best of me.

I’m thankful for Whole Foods being open til 2pm on Thanksgiving – so I could have myself a turkey dinner for one.

I’m thankful for the way this year’s worked out – the great stuff and the bad – especially because it led to the amazing experiences and friendships that have begun only this fall.

I’m thankful for being reminded how important my family is to me.

I’m thankful for the incredible people who have just come into my life in the past year…

And I’m thankful for those who’ve been with me since the very beginning!
